Yea i dont think we should do it live, just give the person 24 hours to respond and say a max of 16 bars per round.

Im deffinetly up for this.

Yeah, I thought live would be more hype, but it seems like most forums do it in a thread. 24hrs? And Albliteration, what was that "/roll" you were talking about?

RE: The IT Forum Rhyme Battle - Boboulas - 07-15-2010 03:08 PM

People arent gonna be impressed tht we can do it quickly, people want content.

Give some 24 hours to write something back or they lose the battle.

So do those two who are battling write at the same time & put it in when done, or does one go first, post, then the second one goes at it?

shak: go to the chatroom type /roll and its like rolling dice, it'l pick a random # from 1-6

^seen.

Yeah, I guess once the challenge is accepted, both people have 24hrs to drop their lines. Personally, I like one going first, followed by the other. Just gives the second person a chance to flip lines. lol, I don't know if people do that in keystyle battles, but I can't wait to flip lines on people.

Yeah, I like the idea of it being a domino effect. One spits, then the other counterspits. But either way, this is going to be great.

And if we go more than one round, at least 2, it gives the first person a chance to flip too if they want. But we do that, then time has to be cut down. I personally don't like the 24hr time. Way too long, but it's probably the most fair cause we all live in all different time zones. For me, it is about how fast you can come up with something - with quality though, for sure. The best lines in a battle for me are the flips, the goods ones that people come up with real quick and just destroy someone with. But we gotta think about what's gonna work best for us. 24hrs is probably best.

If we did one after the other, we could do 12hrs for one, response is due 12hrs after? Or they get the whole 24hrs to respond?

For example. Challenge accepted at 1am, July 15. First to go has until 12pm, July 15. Second person can either have 12hrs after the first verse is posted, or can have until 1am, July 16, regardless of when the first to go has posted their verse. What do you guys think? Which would be better?

And what about Host? Voting? Personally, I know Vegan hasn't been around too long, but he started this thread. I vote for him to be host (if he wants, and he's not battling). I guess if we're doing this in threads, then adding a poll to the thread once the battle is done is the easiest way. and then give a cutoff time (48hrs? 24hrs?) after the battle is done. Thoughts?

RE: The IT Forum Rhyme Battle - Albliteration - 07-16-2010 02:20 AM

id still like to do this shit live. lol

RE: The IT Forum Rhyme Battle - The Vegan Marxist - 07-16-2010 02:32 AM

Live would be nice, but yeah, like the rest said, we're down with content, not really how fast one can spit. I like the fast beat too, but freestyling may not be the most used in these battles since most probably have never been MC's. So the 24 hour deal sounds like the best option - 12 hours to each battler. And I wouldn't mind hosting the first battle if one took place. I plan on battling as well sometime, but not just yet. So yeah, I'm down for being host.

We can do it once a month or something. "Promo" battles?? HAHAHA. You know, cause there might not be too many people around at the same time. Make sure we got a host, and like 3 judges. Let whoever wants to vote after and the judges can take them in to consideration before making a decision? So we can do both, but the main one will probably have to be in threads. Or we can just let the barriers decide.

What you could do is; say 2 people challenge each other, they set a date and time that they'll both be on the forum and then you could just give them like 5 maybe 10 minutes to come up with something, that way there won't be a long wait and the battle won't last so long.
