Looked it up quickly, and I got even more confused. The Uyghurs are Central Asians, like Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Turkmenistan. I think there are other nations that I didn't get to include, but this is all I could think of right now. They are pretty much a mixture of Asian, Persian, Arab and European. The modern term for their ethnicity is Eurasian. If not all but many of them are pretty much the leftovers people of the Mongol Empire who settled in these regions and converted to Islam. They also continued to trade with both the East and the West. They were once occupied by the USSR so they also have a great Russian influence that still exist, but in the Uyghurs case they are being occupied by China. As of Rebiya Qadir, she is a Uyghur woman who was persecuted by the Chinese government for speaking up and for protesting against them. She is now residing in the US and continuing her fight and struggle. A documentary video was made about her life story including her persecution and harsh human rights abuse by the Chinese government towards her people. The name of the film is called "The 10 Conditions Of Love" and was released in an Australian film festival, but was boycott by China. Now it is almost impossible to get a copy of the documentary due to that. For China to put a ban on that documentary, they are really serious about it. An assassination attempt was even carried out to terminate Rebiya, but failed. There are a few videos of the documentary floating around in youtube, but I don't know if it's the whole movie or just a summarized version of some important clips put together. I just wanted to know if anyone had heard of this or knows if copies of the whole documentary can be found somewhere. Plus I also wanted to shed some light to the Uyghur struggle. They are being genocide slowly and oppressed really bad. They are not even allowed to fast during Ramadan. Whats happening in their autonomous region is the same thing that is happening in Palestine, Bangsamoro (Mindanao) and other places with a similar situation.
