I think African Americans should change their last name to " X " like Malcolm did...its just disgusting to see African Americans with names like Jackson, Fitzgerald, Johnson

Whatever, i wouldnt expect any of u to understand what someones identity is, what a name is, what language is...these are all things of a persons culture, which African Americans have lost
some people do keep diff names like Jamal(arabic) or Lateesha(no idea)

^ thank you. i forgot how to spell those names (Jamal & Lateesha) i was going to type them but couldn't remember how to spell them (which is sad for the Jamal one since it is straight forward). & i get what ya saying, lol im not ignorant. i was just saying changing their name to 'X' was stupid. but sure yea changing their names to names of their culture is fine. but think about it, African Americans are part of the American culture. in case you didn't notice the 'American' in their race's name. lol.

I understand what you are trying to say. Its like Ali who changed his name because he said he dident want a name of a slave and then he had problems because at his time, there was still alot of racism in the community. Who would actually want a name that describes the racism and the injustice of a society that exist no more ( im talking about owning slaves, not racism, i know that racism may never dissapear ). Besides, the name express years of suffering, torturing, and murdering of their own people. Thats why I think it would be a good idea to change their old owners name.

Honestly at this point there is no need to change your name. Black/white/asian/hispanic all have their own identities through what they do in life and what they belive. A name is just words, its the persons life that makes identity.
