volunteer work
in the next week, i will be in west virginia, working with one of the poorest towns. we will work on projects like adding rooms to trailers (no joke). i am in charge of yardwork (a passion of mine, i would love to be a zapista farmer) in a project where we would cement a ramp from an elderly cripples house to his garage. before, his son would have too carry him in the wheelchair.
i will be attending this event with my church, but not to impose jesus on others. (my religious views are incredibly diverse and unique). rather to bless myself and those who interact with the love the penetrates every religion's base, despite its faults. last year, i worked in the pittsburgh project, where i had the immense pleasure of removing asbestos and fixing rotted cement stairs, as well as a large yardwork portion, in North Park, a notoriously poor area. I love old people, children, and animals, and I fortunately was assigned to a 90+ couple. there courage was amazing, they remain in my hearts. a positive revolution should only help the people in every way. altho i would not hesitate to fight alongside comrades given the chance, helping the community is of greater importance. they are the basis of democracy. what is your experience in volunteer work? ![]() |

RE: volunteer work
Good job L.A.Z
I am all for making a change in the community. A true revolutionary lets the activist do his job first. I have volunteered at a local youth center in my neighborhood, same one that helped me get out of the streets. I gave music classes you kids 12 to 15 years of age. I did a lot of benefit shows for the elderly. Every Christmas, I would go to a retirement home and play along with my band to give the older people there something to be happy about. I played at the green/earth day event in Los Angeles to promote a better treatment of nature. I have not done all I want to do, but I have used my music to help people in many occasions Make sure to check out my channel!

RE: volunteer work
I did a fair bit with the scouting movement when I was younger, and I'm going to look into refereeing junior rugby games
You begin saving the world by saving one man at a time; all else is grandiose romanticism or politics. |

RE: volunteer work
i realize some may view this negatively because this was with a church, but let me assure you we did not attempt to convert or urbanize anyone. in fact, very recently a kid came out of the closet with church support
i just got back and it was an incredible experience ![]() |

Get paid to do it... all you need to do is be authentic and blog it. |
