I don't know about that. Philosophy is a science, no? The science of life? The science of the purpose of life? The science of what to do, how to act and how NOT to act? The day that mathematical calculations become more important than understanding your reality is the day that your life has no purpose. Take this example. When we are stripped down of everything in this reality - in prison, stranded on an island, alone, no friends, no tv, no computer, no clothes, no beer, no cigarettes. What do we have left? What is so much a part of our existence that no one can take it away? Our minds. Our thoughts. So, if all the "extras", the "special features" are stripped away and we are left with our minds, is it not logical to assume that the first priority should be to feed and nourish that basic element? Isn't that where you start? When you build a house, are the foundation and frame not the most basic and important elements to strengthen? If you don't use pressure treated wood and pour a solid foundation, will the house not degrade faster over time? If you do not maintain these basics, they will collapse from under and all around you. No?

Your mind is the most basic tool, provision, feature, you have. If you neglect it and forget about it's role, it's importance, you will only achieve a fraction of what you are capable of. I hope you don't have many high aspirations for yourself. (I'm not talking about you, Mono, just quoted you because you summed up a point of view quite nicely).

Chino, you are a warrior brother. You are real, true to yourself and your reality. Never forget that and never stop trying to learn. You will come to a place, eventually, where you are comfortable with having too many questions and no answers. That's what separates you from the rest of us. Your thoughts may seem chaotic now, but later you will recognize that chaos as the time in your life when your soul was organizing itself in to peace.

Philosophy is not a science. Science is concerned with the material world and is objective.

Your 'reality' is subjective. Mathematics is objective. Its study allows greater understanding of how the material world operates. It is literally another language.

There's a thread floating around somewhere which tells us why we can be allowed to exist in the first place (there's more matter than anti-matter). Thank you science.

I do agree that the unexamined life is not worth living.

how is it that mathematics is objective? it only explains the laws that earth was created from

philosophy is a science, the study of the mind in itself is a science
understanding the mind allows you to understand the soul,. AND no, im not talking about the study of its physical form. its more like nirvana, becoming one in body and soul

or ying and yang in perfect harmony,
the sun and the moon,
the past and the future
the eyes and the mind
the decision and the consequence
the reward and the price

if it were not for science we would not know that we think in our brain and that one could observe thinking, the soul was the source of action and thus physically having effect upon the world and thus observable, which it is not
