jesus
this is not a thread about theism vs atheism. i request any such arguments to be deleted or moved to another thread by a mod. preferably gezus, so i can then accuse him of censorship
i hear two different views on jesus- one that he was a gandhi type man who argued for turning the other cheek and was weak in the face of authority and then another which argues he was a revolutionary leading an insurrection against rome no doubt the current church is of the former, but was the man himself actually like that? please back any claims with evidence |

RE: jesus
Jesus Laz wasnt this discussed already x 50000 times in those other threads?
We decided; (the Ten Commandments); 1. El Mono is God (scientific) 2. shakur is the Pope 3. Buddhism is real beause Vegan is reincarnated as Josef Stalin (empirical evidence). 4. Gezus should be crucified. 5. Younes is a demon who because of his religiou belief is going to make his own mother burn for all eternity in hell. 6. Introcluse is the destroyer of all faith. 7. Jesus was a tree hugging hippy. 8. If Jesus is Batman Mario is Robin 9. The Angel of Death is the Myth of Sisyphus (for Introcluse} 10. Discussions on religion are bad for your health. |

RE: jesus
After talking to Laz via PM I decided I'd clear the thread a bit and get it on-topic.
So lets try to keep it on-topic. 1871's post stays because its funny, and on-topic since he said Jesus was a tree hugging hippy. And I agree, total tree hugging hippy, who liked to fish and build stuff. #GOAT

RE: jesus
Ok, so let's begin long before Jesus was born. Jerusalem was considered the holy/promised land by God to the Jews. Once they took control of Jerusalem, David tried setting a temple dedicated to God in Jerusalem. Problem was, he wasn't allowed for the fact that he had been a warrior. Therefore, his son Salomon took upon that task, which leads to the controversy of Salomon's temple. After the reign of Salomon, Jerusalem was invaded, and lost by the Jews. It went through different powers. (Let's use the word Israelites instead) By the time Jesus was born, King Herod was the puppet king assigned to rule over Judea (In Jerusalem)
The Israelites had long awaited the Messiah, a man who would lead them to a revolution, helping them seize control of Jerusalem. Now, based on bible scriptures, we can most clearly see that Jesus was all against violent acts. I can quote many passages such as, we battle not against flesh, or put your sword down peter!, I mean...if you want me to go there, just tell me. For now, let's keep this as short as possible. I also gave some examples here... . http://www.immortaltechnique.co.uk/Threa...ight=jesus Now, outside of the bible, there are several descriptions of Christ. Here is one by Josephus: Quote:“Now around this time lived Jesus, a wise man. For he was a worker of amazing deeds and was a teacher of people who gladly accept the truth. He won over both many Jews and many Greeks. Pilate, when he heard him accused by the leading men among us, condemned him to the cross, (but) those who had first loved him did not cease (doing so). To this day the tribe of Christians named after him has not disappeared” There is one, portraying Jesus not as a violent man, but as one who instigated disturbances in Jerusalem. Suetonious: Quote:"Because the Jews at Rome caused constant disturbances at the instigation of Chrestus (Christ), he (Claudius) expelled them from the city (Rome)." (Life of Claudius, 25:4) I believe that it is clear that Jesus did have that purpose all along, he just didn't do it in a violent matter. This is clear when he arrives to Jerusalem on a donkey. The Jews were pissed off because they couldn't believe a man claiming to be the Messiah would enter looking so weak. His message was simply that it was a peaceful revolution. Till this they, he is not considered the Messiah by them. Although there is now messianic judaism... There are other historians who mention Jesus in their writings. Some portrait him as crazy, others as wise, peaceful... In the end, there is more evidence of him being a man of peace.... Make sure to check out my channel!

RE: jesus
Are their any other depictions of Jesus, peaceful or revolutionarily, in texts other than the New Testament that you can supply Mario? That would really interest me.
Quote:"All my problems are meaningless, All my pictures have fallen. All my problems are meaningless, And that dont make em go away." Quote:"Is", "is." "is"—the idiocy of the word haunts me. If it were abolished, human thought might begin to make sense. I don't know what anything "is"; I only know how it seems to me at this moment. ![]() |
