Why do you have to argue it? Stay away from creationist arguments..
They sometimes go hand in hand, but the Smart design theory has it's own views...
I don't know many good sites that talk about it, but I'm sure you can find books
at your local public library... That's where I usually go

I'm not gonna go fully into the theory, but I'll tell you the basic idea...
Smart design fills in the blanks that evolution theory leaves. The science behind it does not contradict evolution, it just limits it. There are many points at which evolution theory takes a leap of faith. That is where smart design steps in to provide another option... Like the anatomy of a simple cell... Read the evolution of a simple cell from an evolutionist perspective, then read it from a smart design perspective. Also, the idea of micro-evolution is widely accepted, macro-evolution is questioned however....
