RE: college questions.
well on the tax code and such i'm loaded. but my parents are separated and we don't get enough money to pay for all the expenses and save for college. and my dad won't help out at all. so i can't apply for financial aid.
it was a joke. basically i don't plan on doing anything that will feed me. ![]() |

RE: college questions.
Scholarships:
http://www.fastweb.com/ Plenty of schools can be applied to through common app, even if you can't apply now take a look at what they require, the type of essays they typically want, all that type of stuff: https://www.commonapp.org/CommonApp/default.aspx A site to explore which school will fit your situation (tuition costs, SAT requirements, GPA requirements, also consider the essay which puts you in a top tier of HS students, also consider teacher recommendations). Use this site to compile a list, then visit the school sites individually and look into the specific programs you are interested in http://www.collegeboard.org/ 1) Very, very good choice to begin planning and looking around now. 2) Do not procrastinate, go on that site and search until you start convulsing. 3) Strict morals does not help you make money, scholarships are money. My atheist friend applied for a Christian Scholarship and now he doesn't pay for college. If you are willing to bend your moral and ethical beliefs, it doesn't hurt. 4) Application fees pile up, generally you want to send out 6-7 applications, 2 safety nets, 3 schools you think are a very good fit for you, and 2 reach schools (stay realistic though) |

RE: college questions.
A college catering to one specific ethnicity sucks anyway. It's all about diversity. Besides, you're likely to get a bigger priority if you're not black since some of these HBCU's want to branch out.

In hindsight I don't think I'm mature enough or disciplined enough to be doing a degree. I shouldn't be spending the last few years of my teens stressing to get coursework done. I should be out stealing people's mail and lynching the landlord. |

RE: college questions.
yea, actual interesting shit without conforming to society's mindset
for years my parents ran a recruitment agency. they'd get young people coming in looking for work, and my dad would just go ...... get a bag and fuck off, do something else, find something else. got in a lot of trouble for that, but it's true. my brother went to the careers guy recently. he's 16, and he fairly enjoys geography. all the geography-related jobs are fucking dull and uninteresting, and geography students are fucking idiots. don't waste your time with that shit. unless it's fucking vocational, like an apprenticeship in joinery or engineering or some shit, or nursing or medicine, don't fucking do it, and don't bother about it yet. you want to be a journalist or poet? you don't need fucking university. it could be good, you could get some knowledge. do it if you're fucking interested in what you're studying. but it's fucking bullshit mate. go as a mature student. don't waste those years in schooling. You begin saving the world by saving one man at a time; all else is grandiose romanticism or politics. |

RE: college questions.
Your Dad's income shouldn't affect your financial aid if your parents are separated right? *edit* Nm I forgot that separated =/= divorced so ignore that first statement.
I didn't even put my dad's tax info down on my college app, just my moms & I'm getting the full 5500 from financial aid. Tuition at my university is only like 2300 though. I'm pretty sure my test scores will be too low for good scholarships cause I haven't studied up on my math really and I have to take the shit tomorrow. I'm just going to rack up the student loans that I have to pay back and worry about them after I have a degree & cant find a job. Go America!! ![]() |
