RE: chemistry help
Each orbital is a box with 2 arrows in it. S sub shells will have one box because it only has 2 electrons. P sub shells will have 3 boxes because it has 6 electrons. D sub shells will have 5 boxes. F sub shells will have 7 boxes.

In each box you have a maximum of 2 arrows. Do not point both in the same direction, like both up or both down. They must point different ways, one up, one down. This is to indicate opposite spin.

Remember:
- Orbitals fill from the lowest energy level upwards, so that order I've talked about before. (1s2, 2s2, blah blah blah)

- For the sub shells which have more than one box, so the P, D & F sub shells, you fill each box singly (so an arrow in each box), BEFORE you start to pair them. So you can't have 2 arrows in one box when another in the same sub shell is empty.

- Electrons within an orbital always have opposite spins. This is called Hund's rule.

Did that help clear it up? Find a diagram and read it, probably make more sense then.

Are you serious? I have never heard of that.
