Think - that the States didn't have 'Citizen Smith' or see the tv series. And it was the same with Rik out of the 'Young Ones' .lol When people fear that they are going to be ridiculed they give up altogether. Its not a good thing to have what is in your heart scorned and mocked right? So it becomes either a "revolutionary lifestyle' as you say cleef or an embarrasment that people abandon entirely. Meanwhile the Alan Sugar Apprentices and the wannabes committe approved celebs are the perfect role model.
Thatcherism and the right win the day. In Kensington (for non Londoners that's the richest part of London) the most expensive fashion shops for the Sloane ranger wimmin had huge posters of Che. lol. |
