Vegetarians
So, I've always love animal, been convinced that animal were equal to human etc; and as I learn how food works and eventually realise we didn't need meat in order to live I've decided to become a vegetarian.
The point being, you actually have to be very careful as a vegetarian if you don't want to suffer from lack of proteins and stuff like that, you're diet have to be very... you have to eat lots of different things if you don't eat meat basically.
I'd be interested if there is any other vegetarians/vegans etc on here that could share there experiences, telling me what they most eat, maybe even giving me some vegetarians cooking tips haha.
I'd be interested to know why you're vegetarian (if some of you are), and what you do except not eating me. For example I eat eggs, drink milk etc but I'm careful I don't eat eggs from chicken that live in battery as they're treated like shit and suffers a lot more than chicken that are raised in fresh air. I also eat organic stuff when I can afford it etc...

RE: Vegetarians
Not really no. Look at Shaolin Monks, they're super healthy, and pure vegetarians (they are buddhist so they don't even eat eggs or drink milk etc). From what I've learned at school and what I've lurked on the net, I can say you don't need meat to be healthy, the proteins in meat (which is basically why you need meat) can be synthesise by your body if you eat different sort of vegetable. The only thing is that you got all what is needed to synthesise those proteins in meat only while you need different kind of vegetables to do the same thing.

RE: Vegetarians
@Kvdz real shaolin monks died out a long time ago.
One of the main reasons why shaolin monks practice martial
arts is to defend themselves against these wild animals.

Animals are not equal to us, they do not think like us.
I have nothing against vegetarians but saying shit like
we're equal to animals is ridiculous.

RE: Vegetarians
I'm not a vegetarian but a lot of people in my family are, especially on my dad's side.

The problem I see with a lot of vegetarians is that they aren't getting the protein + nutrients they need and they still don't eat healthy. I have a friend who's vegetarian but she doesn't eat the right stuff. She's really thin and weak, I could honestly pick her up with one arm. If people choose to become vegetarian/vegan, they really need to find some good alternatives so they're getting proper nutrition.

I personally could never become a vegetarian, I eat meat every day.

RE: Vegetarians
Shaolin Monk never died why the fuck are you talking about? Shaolin are still trained as they were centuries ago... and they weren't trained like this to defend themselves against animals but against corsairs that were raiding the Chinese's cost... fuck man d'you know what you're talking about? they're Buddhists it's forbidden in their religion to kill an animal.

And it has been proven that some animals think, some animals feel emotions etc. And everyone of em suffers. And that's basically why you shouldn't kill em to eat them while you don't need it.

Now I don't think you should think like that, but I do, so don't tell me how to think, especially if it's to say wrong facts such as the things bout shaolins...

EDIT : @Priya : yh that's basically why I'm creating this thread and lurking the internet about vegetarians stuff, I've heard of loads of people who stopped eating meat but don't eat more of some stuff you should (I don't know the different vegatables' family's names in english, but you know, basically bean are a sort of vegetable with other stuff that are different from tomatoes, carrots and stuff...) in order to have a healthy vegeterian diet and that makes you weak etc.
Whereas ppl who eat the right stuff just are as wealthy as meat-eating ppl...

Kvdz

Obviously you don't know shit.
Shaolin temple is now a commercial business now.
That's why I said real shaolin monks died out.
I don't know what I am talking about?
I'm a Buddhist myself so don't tell me I don't know what I'm talking about.
A monk is not gonna let himself get killed and be eaten.

They were trained because they were in an area that were full
of wild animals it's one of their reasons, learn to fucking read.

RE: Vegetarians
animals are equal to people. one earthworm does more for the earth than 1000 al gores could. spend some time with a dog, be outside

i am also interested in becoming a vegetarian. i have been working on this vicious diet of two meat servings a week (nothing else restricted, im really healthy) and for the first two weeks, i was eating everything in my house. cereal, yogurt, fruit, vegetables, everything tasted great. the downside was whenever i ran out of food id get a really sore stomach (i 15 and can outeat anyone, really skinny though lol) bc meat fills you up so much. id become a full fledged vegetarian but almonds, tofu, that shits expensive.

Yeah for sure, props to you. My vegetarian cousins eat a lot of tofu and lentils, especially lentil soup called Daal with Indian spices and stuff.

Vegetarians can be just as healthy as people who eat meat like TVM said.

RE: Vegetarians
Well I know fuckin shaolin monks and buddhist myself even if I'm not, and they don't kill animals, period, they don't even kill men that attack them most of the time but just hurt them badly enough to be safe. And most of shaolin combat skill are directed to hit man, you don't hit an animal the same way you hit a man. And I don't know what the fuck you're saying bout shaolin being commercial buisness now but you see the one I know and you just shut up, those guys are so much trained, mentally and physically, and that has always been the case. I've talk to real shaolin, and they didn't tell me shit about shaolin being attacked by animals and stuff at the time it was created. What sort of Buddhist are you not to believe animals are equal to humans and not to be vegetarian? You come and say I'm talking shit but saying basically nothing but the antithesis of what real shaolin monks and buddhist told me about themselves and add sumthin like "you're talkin shit", what you expect if not me telling you you're speaking shit. So fuck off, you speak gently at first and I do the same, you don't, I don't.
