The Most Dangerous Moment in History
Just watched this, scary stuff, the only reason any of us are alive today is because one Russian commander. Literally. Anyone know anything about this or read up on this before? Interesting how a moment that literally could have changed the course of human history is completely unbeknownst to most people. RE: The Most Dangerous Moment in History
Ha ha myth - I fucken remember all that shit. lol. people believed that nuclear holocaust could happen at any moment.
People got scared as shit watching tv dramatisations like this; (made 3 years later') (They actually banned that^lol) Funny - I was reading about that today because of the Iran.Soviets and Cubans should never have stood down. The yanks were bluffing.lol http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vasili_Arkhipov not the last US/Iran is a similar thing - but in my view far more potentially dangerous - that is in its likelihood. |

Yeah, my teacher told about it back in 8th grade... the Cuban Missile crisis was also getting pretty hectic, and that one Russian Officer actually have won medals and prizes for thinking twice. 1871, how old are you?
Quote:"All my problems are meaningless, All my pictures have fallen. All my problems are meaningless, And that dont make em go away." Quote:"Is", "is." "is"—the idiocy of the word haunts me. If it were abolished, human thought might begin to make sense. I don't know what anything "is"; I only know how it seems to me at this moment. ![]() |

I think the Cubans were used by Russia. Both nuclear powers were bluffing in terms of using the missiles, but Russia threatened to put some in Cuba as a bargaining tool to get US missiles out of Europe Cuba didn't stand down so much as the US and Russia made a deal and Russia left Cuba the pawn that it was in this game. ![]() ![]() |

RE: The Most Dangerous Moment in History
^
They did it because USA had nuclear weapons as close as Turkey in bases such as Incirlik and Izmir Air Base. I think they had around 300-400 nuclear weapons stationed there ready to be lifted up in a bomber and flown or launched into USSR land. These bases still have nuclear weapons stationed in them and are still operated by both US and Turkish military. They also had and still have in Germany, Holland, Britain and so on. http://www.todayszaman.com/news-206266-r...urkey.html http://www.nrdc.org/media/pressReleases/050209.asp It's actually quite shocking.
