I don't know about the LL killing any chances at Canibus going mainstream. I don't think Canibus ever really had a real chance of becoming a mainstream success if you look at his music. Like, with 2000 BC he had a single or two on there that got play on MTV but that was it. That is not really his target audience, or if it is he is terrible at trying to appeal to them, but i'm pretty sure its not. Also, what got me listening to Canibus back in the day in the first place was exactly his beef with LL. I heard 2nd Round K.O. through a friend and thought it was the niceness and it got me listening to his albums and shit. Which I would imagine isn't an isolated incident, if anything, beefing with a big name like LL helped Canibus gain more fans, also the situation under which the beef arose makes one want to take sides with Canibus anywho. I agree, LL had some nice lines and shit but at the end of the day I think Canibus won by the sheer fact that I believe he garnered more fans from the beef than what he started with, which is always a success. I don't remember if his beef with Eminem was before or after this, but yea take it from Eminem.

Apparently he said it during an interview while he was making SSLP, or at least that is what i've read. Can't seem to find it though but everyone else seems to use the quote freely so I figure why not. I know i've heard the recording before but I can't seem to find it.

Damn, I had heard that Eminem said Canibus was good but I never thought he was ever really high enough to say such a thing, guess I was wrong.

Not really, lots of dudes have mad respect for Canibus, whether its just for show or not. Canibus has the potential to get down on the mic, he just doesn't use it that often :/. Shit, if hes good enough to ghost write Wyclef's verse on Capital Punishment, he is good enough for me.
