RE: Protest essentials
Sometimes it is said the authorities use the shoes as means of identification, when the faces are masked. So when you're about to do something, like puting up signs or spraypainting or whatever, and you're masked, and they see or film you, then you should bring an extra pair of shoes.
Change them before you join the mob again, or before you sneek off, and they won't stop you somewhere.

So far i've got:

Water
Masks (or something able to adequately conceal your identity)Protective clothing
Bust cards (cards with details of a good solicitor)
Spare pair of clothes
Gloves
Backpack (to carry all the shit above)

Anyone else got any good suggestions of what to add to the list

I hope your not planning on doing anything unscrupulous cleef!

Me Joe? Never! I wouldnt do a thing like that Smiley-grin

It's illegal to mask your face like that isn't it

Not if u wear it under your clothing i'd assume although you have to weigh up comfort vs mobility obviously

and no it is not illegal to wear a mask in public (in the UK at least)

RE: Protest essentials
I actually agree!

Sometimes it could be more effective than forming a black bloc which to outsiders can appear intimidating and also attracts a lot of attention from police

...all depends on the type of action obviously

The wombles used to wear white overalls, padding and helmets to scare the sh!t outta the police, I think it worked. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WOMBLES

Now you have the book bloc - http://london.indymedia.org/articles/6513

I think the important thing is to use our imaginations, and move with the times. I was impressed at how quickly the school kids took to masking up. They are learning fast! Who said education in this cuntry had gone downhill eh...

i find it worry the number of people coming to demo's and still NOT masking up with FIT running about.

Would be nice if people could bring extras for those less prepared.

Protective glasses.. might look stupid but you'll be glad to have them when the teargass gets shot.

A good pair of shoes, when you gotta stand all day or get the fuck outta that place you sure as hell can use some good shoes.

perfect list just missing the cocktails

I was about to say cocktails god damnit! I just didn't want to come off as too extreme hahaha.

And a couple of AK-47's while your at it..

RE: Protest essentials
I'm pretty sure in certain situations that come up you've got to expose your face, there is some bullshit about it.

I would say;

Kevlar body suit, MJOLNR style
Big guns
Lots of other similar people with which to kill the police
Big shields in the hoplite fashion
Devout Latin nobles

You begin saving the world by saving one man at a time; all else is grandiose romanticism or politics.
