RE: News Sites?
@Boboulas

It's very simple to gauge whether the BBC (or any other news company) reports facts in a 'balanced' manner. Even though I don't believe that there are different 'races' - the human race is the only race - I think we're talking about being selective when it comes to reporting news events pertaining to different 'ethnicities'. Just look to simple matters concerning reporting of deaths in the world, whatever the cause - war, famine/poverty, natural disasters, etc.

Now, Look at the space allotted in the paper (the size of the articles) that focus on death tolls in non-Caucasian countries, for example, vs. the space allotted for say, ONE 'israeli' soldier captured as a POW. The evidence is quite clear.

Check this article....and if you wanna go further, check out a documentary by British journalist Jon Snow called "Iraq: The Hidden Story". He talks extensively about his coverage of the Gulf war and the current massacre being perpetrated there now, and how the (British) media basically decides how to 'spin' stories in order to paint the picture they want, regardless of the what the journalists are reporting from the ground

Now, understand my position and statements, and this also addresses El Mono's comment. I'm not saying that BBC is any more racist than say, Al-Jazeera, who would be equally biased in their coverage of any given subject. But the idea, instead, is to filter through all the rhetoric and 'opinion-shaping' tactics employed by the media and to focus on just the hard facts that are reported. By searching as many articles as possible on any given situation so you can figure it out for yourself as best you can.

That is my point with the Guardian. When 'cross-referencing' their articles, in general, with other news outlets covering the same stories, I've come to find that they seem to contain a larger number of the full facts regarding situations I've researched. Doesn't mean I trust them, so to say, just that they usually contain a broader spectrum of the full facts involved in many situations I've looked at. And since they're somewhat considered 'mainstream' (more and more), use of their articles as references are quite helpful when trying demonstrate the documented record, if you get what I'm saying.

RE: News Sites?
AlJazeera English - Based in Doha, Qatar - http://english.aljazeera.net/ - The ONE of the ONLY TWO channels that actually got a reporter INSIDE Ghazza, to broadcast LIVE to the UK... back in the Dec-Jan Siege.

Press TV - Based in Tehran, Iran - http://www.presstv.ir/ - The other ONE of the ONLY TWO channels that actually got a reporter INSIDE Ghazza, to broadcast LIVE to the UK... back in the Dec-Jan Siege.

BOTH OPPOSITE TO FOX NEWS... AMAZING PROGRAMS ABOUT 3RD WORLD COUNTRIES... IT'S NOT JUST A NEWS CHANNEL, BELIEVE...

They show a lot of Anti-Government Documentaries and report a lot of hidden news... e.g. http://www.immortaltechnique.co.uk/Threa...el-s-nukes ...beautiful work.

ALSO ...THE ONLY CHANNELS TO HAVE BROKEN THE VIOLENCE WATERSHED ON LIVE BRITISH TELEVISION...A BIG RISK! DAAM!

VIOLENCE WATERSHED Means that NO horrific images, dead bodies, half ripped up people, victims of war... are allowed to be broadcast before 10PM... These guys took it to the next level! Not only did they fuck the UK Government over by doing this... they listened to the people... The Truth is Ugly... and it HAS to be seen.

AlJazeera, Press TV... RESPECT.

RE: News Sites?
Russia Today is really good (http://www.youtube.com/user/RussiaToday) they've interviewed Immortal Technique and Akir as well.

In Defence of Marxism is also a pretty good site for events from a Trotskyist view point, they particularly have good articles on economics and historical analyzation. (http://www.marxist.com/)

And while not a news site, this site just has a lot of good stuff to read from all styles of Marxists and non-Marxist who have written about other theories that are relevant. (http://marxists.org/)

RE: News Sites?
AP and Reuters. Most of the news channels and sites use them as a source so I rather read straight from teh source.

On TV Local Fox News. They do not maintain connection to the cable channel Fox News Channel. They are independently owned Fox franchises. The one in the DC Area (WTTG 5) is the least biased channel I have found. I will never watch NBC news after the fiasco with dataline when they put bombs in Chevy Gas tanks and said they were defective. CBS 9 is biased and ABC 7 seems leftist. Fox 5just tells it like it is. Now these are local DC channels. They do not reflect usually the national norm, but they do reflect those of the owner (such as NBC and their hate for GM)

Yeah, I forgot about Reuters. Thanks man. I've come to notice that since none of their articles are longer than like 4 paragraphs (if that), there usually usually isn't much space for a lot of opinion (hidden between the lines, like most other outlets). The articles are pretty straightforward as far as the main topic. Almost just like "extended headlines", because they don't really go in to any type of history (in-depth, at least) when they write about something. I still wouldn't call them "un-bias", but I have to admit that I check Reuters a couple times a week and have their headlines posted on my google homepage. Better than any other "mainstream" garbage that makes me want to punch someone.

RE: News Sites?
News in general makes me angry and leaves me with a feeling of powerlessness and angst... until its approach changes from that of a Voyeur to that of a collaborator, News as you know it will die like the Fax machine

The best example of whats coming, or replacing/obsoleting News is a tool called Ushahidi, News as you know it will become obsolete.

Old school fucks follow the News like a "Voyeur" or "peeping tom".
The New School are "localized participants" here is a video to explain what i mean and what Ushahidi is.

Tex... think different...
