I won't lie, even I found it a bit strange.

He said it on Twitter actually, that's where I first saw it. Though you can argue it's an over-exaggeration because it's just a game. At the same time, didn't Tech rip CoD or something because one the missions was to take out a Castro-type guy or something?

Anyway, I don't think he's a hypocrite, but I would think he'd be one of those guys that wouldn't allow his music for that shit.

You can look at it in both ways, I do think you have a point, but I don't think it's hypocrisy per se.

I don't know what you are reffering to in COD, but there was a crazy and disgusting level where you had to kill a lot of russian civilians. Never the less, a game is a game, and if you are basing your behaviors on a game, then you as a person need to reevaluate your life. Not talking to anybody in particular, just saying.

I agree with shakur420, it's an interesting point and should be talked about. I look at it like this, the man's gotta eat. If he sells his song and makes some money then good for him. Now if he sold his song to coca cola, edited out the curse words and some political speech then I got a problem. K'naan is a good example. Sold a song to the olympics and edited out a part talking about his country being the poorest or something like that. For me, that's selling out. In the end you have to draw a line in the sand and make a stand. If tech selling his music to a video game is that line, then I respect that. I would disagree but respect that.

It's not like that is getting BF 3 more sales or anything. The people and companies behind BF3 doesn't gain anything on featuring Immortal's track on their game, neither do they acquire more teenagers wanting to be soldiers. Immortal Technique's track, is only a track in the game. Nothing more, Nothing less.
This will only help Tech getting his music spread even futher, just because he agreed to have it in the game, doesn't mean he co-sign Neo Colonialism and Imperialism. Tha fuck you smoking?

To be fair, Immortal Technique is a real person for which we have evidence that he exists, unlike Jesus, the fictional character in The Bible. So, it's reasonable to say that IT said it, which he did in a song, but Jesus never really said anything since mythical people don't actually talk.

My point is that IT can't be expected to be perfect. He even asks you not to expect that of him and follow him to an extreme where one would call him a hypocrite for not making the best decisions based on his philosophy and world view all of the time.

Nah, I can't remember if it was him or Lowkey. If it was him, then it's kind of hypocritical. Otherwise, you're right. It doesn't really matter.. If it means more people hear his music, so what?

Dude, have you posed this question to him? Like through Facebook, email or something? Maybe the forum interview if it isn't too late? I'd actually be interested in hearing what he has to say about it. I totally get your point, and it seems really weird that he would either allow it or license it. It could've been done without specific permission, I guess. Like how they do royalties for radio or TV or something. I think they can just use music from a whole bunch of artists and pay royalties to a company who then divies it out, maybe not even telling the artist where it's used or whatever. I've heard of something like that. Then again, he might think it's not even a big deal, I don't know, but I'd like to hear his thoughts on it. Send him a message or something.
