(01-20-2012 05:31 PM)Patrick Bateman Wrote: How do you think an artist becomes mainstream? Do you think that as soon as they sign to a major they are mainstream? Of course not. An artist becomes mainstream (or popular) because people buy the music. Why is Lil Wayne currently mainstream? Because his last album sold nearly 1 million copies in its 1st week. 100% . Sales support marketting. The mainstream who usually support 'safe acts' still have to take notice when many people buy from artists who challenge the establishment. Then they cant silence it or keep it underground tho they would like to. |
