As an author, myself, of five books, I would just tell you to be as creative as possible. Always let people review your work and don't shy away from criticism. Trust me, the critiques you'll receive, whether big or small, will help you in the long run.

Don't be so critical while writing a first draft, just write from your heart and let it flow. You can edit it over and decide if you like it later on.
