RE: How did you get to know Immortal Technique ??
in all honesty, i knew the name "immortal technique" before i even listened to him. Then i just gradualy started looking for more rappers to listen to, found technique amongst others, loved the music and now im a supporter.
I kinda feel stupid for not listening to him sooner, ive had the chance for a long time (before i actualy started) but just didnt. I am the Abraham Lincoln of the forum, I free the slaves. |

RE: How did you get to know Immortal Technique ??
one day back in 2002 when i was aboutr 13 i was playin xbox or ps2 in my room and my brother was on the pc listening to dance with the devil now i was hooked on my console but i could still hear the track and it was processing in my head so couple days later i rememberd the track and i thought it was nas who made the track so im there googling for about an hour and my bro walks so i ask him about the track he goes its by immortal technique so i started searching him and i think it was a couple of days after vol 2 dropped and i heard all his tracks that were out then and i was amazed that i was blinded by commercial bullshit and ever since that day its been underground artists but tech will alway be my favourite,
and one thing that im proud of is spreading the word about him through my school by the time i left school when i was 16 even the teachers had heard of him ![]() ![]() ![]() |

RE: How did you get to know Immortal Technique ??
A buddy of mine in irc used to turn me on to all kinds of cool music saying, 'here, grab this,' and tossing me a link; it's interesting, for the most random, add personality i've ever known, this kid was off the chain informed in global and domestic politics, i had better conversations with him (and more satisfying) than i did most adults considered my 'peers.'
But then, he's not american either. |

RE: How did you get to know Immortal Technique ??
Three or four years back a buddy of mine IMed me sayin yo dude check this song out. Sure enough it was Dance with the Devil. From then on i slowly made a nice collection of random Tech songs until this year i deleted all of it because i wanted to actually buy Rev 1 & 2. last year it felt like i was the only one stoked for the 3rd world, and other than parole i dont think any of my friends listen to it. Found this website a few months ago and got most of his other misc. and mixtapes.

RE: How did you get to know Immortal Technique ??
YO YO YO [AHEM] MOOOOVE the fuck aside... Thank you... Now let me just start off by saying:
* Ama get to my story but first off *: Shakur420, you've officially been accepted into the Dead Poet Society, ILL story (though I find it hard to believe). Secondly, I KNOW that we should respect everyone's opinion... BUT let me just clear some shit up... When some of y'all say: "If I had never of heard of Tech., I'd be listening to [whatever] or [nothing at all], etc."..... BELIEVE ME when I say... MUSIC IS A NATURAL EXPOSURE (EXPECT Lil Wayne, humans just listen to him coz they are raped in the head or are blind)... when I say Natural Exposure, I mean that just as we hit 13/14, POW!, we shift into puberty - opposite sex attraction, lil more common sense, lil more maturity, etc, etc... My point is, as soon as we hit 14/15, CHA-POW!!!, music hits us... either Immortal Technique, if your lucky enough to hear about/of him,... or Lil Wayne, if you still think 9/11 was done by Al-Qaeda, Bin-Lardidaa-loo-loo (haha messin')...etc, etc... So just as I said, music comes to us just as puberty does... TRUST... ama 'bout to show you why... here's how I got to know of Immortal Technique... (apologies about the ^intro^...was trying to audition for the Dead Poet Society hahaha) BACK in 2007 or late 2006, my older brother use to pump bare Rap songs, mostly 2Pac songs, he is a big fan... he usually gets to learn about new stuff from his friends while goin' out.....Anyway, one week he started pumping some new tracks while he eats and trains at the same time in the kitchen (don't ask), I was like 14 years old, the music was just like nothing at all to me.....coz you see, my friends were all into music and everything, they had already made the Music-Puberty shift... [sighs] all fucked up as well except one..... My thought on music was strict, I was the more religious type, thinking that all music forbidden, I rejected everything when I saw people pumpin' music, especially coz it was all BULLSHIT (bollywood songs, made-up shit, etc). BUT then, one day when I was listening to some beautiful religious music (voice only and single drum e.g. tonbak or a tambourine without the jingly shit), I stumbled across a religious track with a violin or string instrument (not guitar) playing in the background... I thought: "Woah woah, hold on, hold the fuck on... the hell is this killing it in the background?!"... as I thought all this type of music was prohibited, I did some research into what exactly Islam permits and doesn't, because before research I only took the word that music is prohibited - this would be passed down in tradition... So anyway as I learned that Islam allows music that has a drum, little string like instruments (not guitar though), etc... From there my perspective changed... from there I started looking at a wider range of music.....as I already liked Rap as a child, (2Pac - Hit 'Em Up, etc.), just like kids liked Steps or the Spice Girls or whatever party bullshit...I found that the first thing that struck me was Islamic Nasheeds (basically Islamic songs, in any language, sometimes with instruments), I was still sticking to Islamic stuff (change is slow) I picked up on a group called 786, then Soldiers Of Allah, then one or two others... basically the songs were all in English, I felt it..... but as I got more into Nasheeds in English, the last word on every sentence rhymed and integrated into my Rap likes... From there I positively got into Muslim Rap/Hip-Hop ( )... and as I got into that, the religious lock broke, that might have been a negative thing but at the same time a positive thing... coz MY MUSIC-PUBERTY SHIFT OCCURRED, it might have been late but Alhamdulillah into the right line/type...Remember earlier on when I talked about my brother pumping some new tracks that wouldn't reach my ears, well those tracks were of course IMMORTAL TECHNIQUE (Dance With The Devil, The Point Of No Return and The 4th Branch). SO as he pumped them tracks this time, as my Music-Puberty shift had occurred, it came slowly to me, Tech mentioned about 9/11 being an inside job, etc. (9/11 was a subject that I was deep into) I thought to myself, yeah this guy's making sense... and it just happened to me that my brother wanted to get the clearer video for The 4th Branch track on his phone (YouTube fan made obviously)... he was obviously useless with a computer, so I said that I'd get it for him... Then POW! I listened to the track fully on YouTube... and I was immediately addicted...the fast-flowing tracks to be exact.....from there on, I just use to spend all my time looking on the net for Immortal Technique tracks that I liked and I came across Revolutionary Volume 2, then Revolutionary Volume 1...and at the time The 3rd World was about to be released yet I didn't hear of that until a couple of months later. SO THERE YOU GO, MY REAL STORY ON HOW I FOUND ABOUT IMMORTAL TECHNIQUE...I ONLY LISTEN TO IMMORTAL TECHNIQUE, SERIOUSLY, NO ONE ELSE HITS MY EARS.....BUT obviously I still listen to Muslim Rap/Hip-Hop, it's a religious thing I can't let go of, plus Muslim Rap/Hip-Hop is MURDEROUS, total amazing and ILL... not like Christian Hip-Hop (IF than even exists hahahaha) Ama finish off with a Theory of mine: "That of what you hate now, may well truly be your beloved... you just haven't looked at it with your naked eye" To prove this: * I fucking hated Football (Soccer)..... Now I fucking totally love it, my passion! * I hated Music.....Well errrr..... bad example coz I hate Lil Wayne hahaha, but that doesn't count as Music so it's 'ite... Now I LOVE Immortal Technique and true Hip-Hop. * I didn't like Leaving The Past.....The first time I heard it (while I was into Tech) I thought it was weak...coz it was slow and I didn't fully listen to it with attention..... BUT NOW it's my favourite track. So there you go people, just some examples of my Theory that could work. Apologies for the long post and apologies if you didn't get some of it. Ban me for this if you want, but this ^true story^ was from the heart. I can't thank Immortal Technique enough for doing what he does, there might be some trying to do what he does, like Diabolic, KRS-One, etc., but they will never be like Immortal Technique..... he is Unique. I also can't thank Allah enough, ever, coz even though I'm into a type of music that Islam may not like, He has at least kept my eyes open to truth and away from Lil Wayne, etc. THANK YOU FAM. ONE LOVE. ONE. PEACE. "The shit is real over here man
Thank you for listening, and thank you for supporting independent Hip Hop The heart and soul of our culture Keeping the truth alive Goodnight my people.. goodnight.." |

i was looking at a k'naan vid on youtube and Immortal Technique came up in the comments. The first song I listened to was "point of no return" and i was like "wow this guys really good" His music's a good eye opener in a fucked up kind of way.
