Yo thanks Chi...

I'm just gonna say a few words on my take of what a birthday really is (even though 99% will disagree with me):

Birthdays... Our Mothers take the news of being pregnant with scary feelings, they give up their lifestyle, their smoking and drinking so that it doesn't affect the baby. They carry us around for 9 months, taking the pain of the baby's kicks and punches. Having to eat twice as much. Being restricted from their pleasures just so that the baby remains safe. They face the difficult stages of labour...and finally give birth to us in great pain...the risk of both our mother's and our lives are on the line...

Yet that is only the beginning of a lifetime of care for us...from the hard sleepless nights to the sh*t that they have to clean up in our rooms... ...all started because of our birthday.

So after all that our mothers go through on the day of our birth and have to face the visions of the future, knowing the amount of lifelong responsibility that is to come... Yet we celebrate birthdays for ourselves???

In my eyes, I believe that this day is a personal day to the child for their mother...not for the gifts and money. In other words, the birthday is a day for the child to celebrate their mother and to thank their mother for all that she has done for him/her... Not the other way round.

I know some of y'all are thinking that:

1) Everyone should have at least one personal day to celebrate for themselves.

and

2) It's unfair on the fathers.

Yeah I know that everyone should have at least one day just for themselves... But in reality, I would rather want to make my Mother smile, than my Mother having to make me smile... 'Coz by nature, if the mothers smiles or cries, the child will do the same.

As for it being unfair on fathers, well it doesn't have to be, because without both parents your ass wouldn't be here today. So you can dedicate your birthday to your fathers as well, if you wish.

* Mother's/Father's day is different...'coz they don't have to be biological parents + some don't have a mother or father.

So I dedicate this day to my mother..... But I do appreciate everyone wishing happy birthday, thanks...
