El Mono's Trip To Kenya
Travelling to Kenya to teach.
As I've said to a few members, I'm going to Kenya this July, from the 2nd to the 11th with my school, who have started a Link Project between our schools. I will be flying out to Nairobi and travelling down to Kipriria Academy to teach in a primary school. I will write down all that happens while I am out there, and make a blog like post on this forum when I come back, complete with pictures & experiences. This should be amazing.
At the school I should be teaching: English, Maths & Kenyan History.
I will also do After school activities.
The flight/accommodation is going to cost me Roughly £700, I've paid £100 myself so far.
Here is my Itinerary :
To raise more money, I went on a Sponsored walk . I walked 21 miles from School to the Kenyan embassy in Central London. (It was suppose to be 18, but we got a bit lost). I've made about £300.
Pictorial evidence will follow
If I raise enough money to go, and have left over, I will spend it on equipment for the School in Kenya. (If anyone would like to donate to me, or the charity, it'd be greatly appreciated.).
More will follow as it progresses.
I'mma do what I can.
And what you do is question everything they say do.
Every goal, ideal or value they keep pushing on you.
If they ask you to believe it question whether it's true?
If they ask you to achieve,is it for them or for you?
You're the one, they're asking to go carry a gun.
Warfare ain't humanitarian,
you're scaring me, son

RE: El Mono's Trip To Kenya
Kenya is a beautiful place man. I had the opportunity to spend 8 weeks there two summers ago. Its my favorite place on earth, no doubt, and I've had the privilege to travel a bit. My mum's cousin married a Kenyan woman and they run a safari company so I went to work for them.
Africa is amazing. There is so much megaflora/megafauna there that you can't find anywhere else. Its incredible. I get to go teach next year too, so I'm really excited, except I'll be teaching out in the bush. I could put you in touch with my best friend in Nairobi ^.^
Hes a really good guy and could show you around some of the workers section of the city if you wanted to see it. I recommend eating nyama choma na ugali while you are there. Its the best.
If you wanna learn some swahili before you go pm me, cause I know/am learning some, and it would help cement my knowledge to share it with someone else.
Have a brilliant time man, I know you will. I'll see if I can scrape together some cash to donate.
"Wheels have been set in motion, and they have their own pace, to which we are...condemned. Each move is dictated by the previous one - that is the meaning of order. If we start being arbitrary it'll just be a shambles: at least, let us hope so. Because if we happened, just happened to discover, or even suspect, that our spontaneity was part of their order, we'd know that we were lost."
