Anyways, some of the best lyricists are Rakim, Black Thought, Lupe Fiasco, Nas, GZA, Pharoahe Monch, Common, Andre 3000.

It was merely an observation. I just find it interesting that someone would list so many white rappers as there favourite rappers, in a culture that is dominated by blacks.
BTW, I posted an album up yesterday by a white rapper.

someone help me understand what people mean when they say a rapper is a good lyricist? are they talking about the lyrical content i.e. the message behind the words. or do they mean the way the rhymes are put in place to flow correctly? or a combination of both?

the poetic elements themselves. if we discussing the message we'd call them revolutionary or socially conscious.
