RE: African American
people is people ... human is human ... if u want to be seen as an african american more than as a human like we all are without caring about race religion skin and shit then theres something wrong with you and u wanna be something better or other than the rest and then in my understanding its not racist but stupid to put a skintone or a race higher than you being human (just general , not talkin to you personal)

If changing your name was a revolutionary thing, I.T. would be on that.

meth :People wont be seeing more african american just because of their last name, the X on Malcolm X dosent have to do anything with his culture.
bob :Its true that your actions make your identity, but its not all. You should consider your historical identity as well.
seko : Malcolm X was a revolutionist, and he changed his name. Besides, not every revolutionnary had the same prospects.

RE: African American
well why bother keeping their european names, well maybe cause their real names were taken away from them

and besides they won't change their names until they finally get it through their head THEY ARE NOT AMERICAN, saying that is like saying the exiled Jews were Babylonian

I rather call them something stupid than a slave name. By the way, if you cant even make an argument then just dont leave empty comments.

Thats right. The media brainwash the people by telling them they are american, america is the country of the justice, no other country is best than america, and then they forget they historical identity and dont care anymore about their own people or even about their own last names.

RE: African American
Because it isnt important, not because they are brainwashed.

You guys are talking like racism is still a big issue anymore in america. Its not, but it is in africa, israel, indonesia, east europe. Those places redefine racism, but you can carry on pretending that its still the 60s.

RE: African American
Have you already be in america? i did, and you are wrong saying thats its not a big issue. I agree that there was a progress, but theres still alot to do. Even IT talks about it in a song : ''I never seen so much racism in all of my life....''

RE: African American
Hes talking about south america i think.

It really isnt as big as you make it out to be, sure there are hate crimes but where arent there hate crimes?

And if you look at the broad stroke, its really a class issue more than a race issue.

RE: African American
Im not amplifying anything, your are. I said i know theres less racism than before but the racism is still present. Is that all what you see.. ? hate crimes ? theres the humiliation of the african american image by the media, discrimination at work, prejudice by the cops on the streets, anyone who listens to underground hip hop knows that.
Im talking about racism, not class. Those are completely different subjects.

RE: African American
Not really, racism is a mechanism of class warfare.

I dont see african americans humilitaed on TV, discriminated at work (affirmative action) or prejudice on the streets, it still exists but its hardly a common thing anymore. And it doesnt take someone who listens to hip-hop to know it, it takes someone who has lived that life or at the least seen it.

I think every colour has equal opertunity these days, it comes down to either your class or your talent that seperate your from everyone else (working class).
