A Billion Pounds....
listening to old episodes of Conspiracy Worldwide's Friday night Live.....

Mista Montana

"...White people have spent over a billion pounds, or euros, whatever currency it is, on a machine which is gonna find the secret proton - the secret to the creation of man. They gonna prove and emulate possibly, a Big Bang to find what they call 'antimatter'. Which is gonna be a break-through for mankind. It's gonna be a revolutionary discovery for mankind. It costs over a billion pounds, a billion dollars, twelve zillion rupees, whatever currency, it was a massive, massive amount. Now Menace, I've got a question for ya..."

Menace

"What's that man?"

Mista Montana

"Do you think.....a starving women who's scooping the flies off a dead kid, so she can survive for one more day.....do ya think she gives a FUCK about the antimatter? The secret proton. Do ya think she really cares about it man? Look at the amount of money which has been spent....."

shit, I love this show.....

RE: A Billion Pounds....
Im rather split on the issue.

There are far more wastfull things that get more money than a mere billion to science which is revoultionary.

Look at what the world spends on defence, half of that could feed and clothe the world several times over AND we have the rescources to do it. Only reason we dont it because its not profitable. Which is understandable if you look at it from the perspecitive of a capitalist, but its allso understandable how the same philosophy robs humans of their humanity.

Before people get angry at science they should get angry at the upperclass who should be the ones sharing their money and not science. Who benefits society more, the possibility of discovering the power of an infinite rescource or the footballer who kicks a peice of rubber and probibly earns more than a scientist or a doctor.

^yeah, yeah fore sure. Million dollar contracts for atheletes piss me off. I don't think this any more important, though.

I don't feel like the advancement of knowledge, technology or science is important when our social structure is so wrong. We shouldn't be bottling water when others don't even have plumbing. It's just wrong for me.

It just made me laugh....

RE: A Billion Pounds....
Capitalism is obsolete.

I'mma do what I can.
And what you do is question everything they say do.
Every goal, ideal or value they keep pushing on you.
If they ask you to believe it question whether it's true?
If they ask you to achieve,is it for them or for you?
You're the one, they're asking to go carry a gun.
Warfare ain't humanitarian,
you're scaring me, son

RE: A Billion Pounds....
wtf?! Just because this is a 'science' venture it does not automatically make it a worth-while or a 'revolutionary' venture. That assumption stems from ignorance of the field itself. I truly believe that if science is revolutionary, it is so because it results in the betterment of humanity.

The notion that anti-matter has great value in medical imaging is partly ridiculous based on the hundreds of variables and huge capital that would need to be satisfied in order for it to work...let alone the fact that high dose radioactive isotopes would need to be used (which in the past have proven to kill people or result in long-term ill effects). The captialists pushing this venture are deluded enough to claim that this radioactive danger is offset by 'knowledge that COULD be gained about disease progression'.

What i do agree with is the idea it could potentially be used in fuel production....the amount of energy that could be liberated per unit mass of antimater is insane. BUT no one fully knows how to harness that energy...so more than half that energy would be lost....again there are hundreds of variables involved and the cost is crazy...a few picograms of antimatter can cost around £25million...energy production would require kilograms which easily takes the cost to quadrillions. fuck that.

LOL@ "secret proton...secret to the creation of man"

This is urban warfare, to the streets of your psychology.....So I'm like the legs of a paraplegic really, cuz I'm still part of U, even if U can't feel me...

The discovery of the "God" particle is a serious possibility though. It could prove that life in the universe is a result of a googleplex of interactions, as opposed to the instance of thought from an almighty being. It would totally destroy the religious systems that exist.

Im pretty sure many people thought evolution/fossiles would do the same. People would still feel the need for a higher being/purpose. Thus people would still belive in a god.
