i've been playing around with FL studio for a little while now and it seems pretty user friendly
NFX has been a great help in explaining things...still, got much to learn!!!

For sure, Warbeats is dope. Check out the website.

And the forums. Learned a bit just by reading through some threads.

Fuck Reason man...Well, not fuck Reason, what I meant to say is I'm too dumb and impatient to use it so I dont lol...I'll just stick to FL with the XXL Hip-Hop Pack...Simple shit lol...

It's "free" and easy???...Why did I have to use a crack then to get the full version??? lol...

RE: Whats the best music production software?
Definitely FL Studio. Started with it and don't plan on giving it up now. I'm making shit better than a lot of the producers out there imo. hell, lex luger even uses it. Cubase and Reason are too unnecessarily complicated tbh. Not easy to learn either. Forget about Pro Tools too.

yeah, reaper is the shit. affordable too.

ive used some software for scratching, ( if u have a mac, theres turtablist. scroll down a bit on this page : http://destroyfx.smartelectronix.com/audiounits.html ) then theres dj software out there, some cheap or free. ( http://www.mixxx.org ) but its usually not that good. might as well just get some decks.

RE: Whats the best music production software?
FL Studio is the best in my opinion. I fell in love with it. That's the type of software that a pro would use though. If you dont have the money to buy it, well a good "clone" of FL Studio is LMMS (and its for Windows too, not just Linux), but it pisses me off sometimes xD But what I like about it is that say you have the demo version of FL Studio, if you save your beat, you won't be able to open it up unless you buy the full version. LMMS can read the .flp files (FL Studio files) and put it on LMMS itself Smiley-grin but I believe the quality is slightly changed. If you're still beginning, a good one would be Mixcraft.
